The homogenized pop has had its fans in most countries in the world, but many of these nations have created their own indigenous pop out of their folk music.
We publish 12 to 14 practitioner-type journal editions each year for our Members and Fellows of the 6 sections - these are the "Royal" Free Academy of PMC (The Academy), Interactive Conservatory (an independent authority for training and educating amateur and professional musicians of contemporary and popular music) and 6 Scientific Societies; and for the National Library of Portugal.
101 CONTEMPORARY MUSIC PERFORMANCE SPECIALTIES & 13 PRACTICAL SUBJECTS AVAILABLE FOR TRAINING - you may choose a different specialty for the 3 accredited qualification levels
NOTE: Our Interactive Conservatory's (CI) Initial and Continuing Professional & Graduate Education Programme was developed by Prof. Carlos Viegas at an Organic Unit Centre of an Higher Education Institution in Portugal, and the Academy-CI is a RNOD validated Organization (not-for-profit) under the Ministry of Culture.
--Certificate and Diploma Assessments in Popular Music for Full Members-Candidates--

In English
"Our national and international recognition and influence on the Music Performance Science must be in playing Music within the scope of all Contemporary Music specialties and concepts, and connecting it with the associated art and science" (Carlos Al 'Grace'). Carlos Alberto F. Viegas (his real name) is the Creator and Arranger of many European and Lusophone Hot Dances (arranged from tunes in the public domain), and the Composer of the Contemporary Solo Guitar (Modern style Classical Guitar and Jazz Guitar), Orchestral Concerts and Contemporary Guitar and Braguesa (requinta style) Recitals published and owned by ALPMC-CI, called 'Academius', 'Connections', 'The Contemporary', 'The Vanguardist' (separated by Movements and Opus), Waltz-Contemporary Lunduns, Contemporary Lunduns of many types and metrics, Fusion-Contradanzas, 'The Man-Symphony' I In VIII, Etc., following the composing techniques from the 5 musical scales he has developed himself: the '9-Note scale', '10-Note' scale, '11-Note' scale (only loosing 1 note to the chromatic scale!), the 'contemporary Hybrid scale', '12-Note contemporary scale' (a scale harmonized with 21 chords) and the 12 chord-miniatures, without 'breaking' the most important and advanced harmony and composition rules from both the Music of classical tradition and the styles of modern music and jazz. The agreed international Venue for each concert presentation of the Orchestra ('Homem-Sinfonia' I In VIII with 'Orquestra Contemporânea Metropolitana' in virtual format - performed by Carlos Viegas) is the Church of São José das Taipas of the Royal Fellowship of Souls of São José das Taipas, organized in conjunction with our Honorary Benefactor, Arq. José Bastos. Carlos has created 3 musical styles: the contemporary lunduns, fusion contradanzas and the Portuguese and Lusophone hot string dance. The ALPMC - CI, based in Portugal, is committed to become the international Lusophone authority for Popular Music and Contemporary Performers (both amateurs and professionals), integrating the C.I. research centre for Membership (Associate or Full Member-Candidate), professional qualification training, interactive orchestras and ensembles, and 6 practitioner-type journals for all Members, Fellows and Honorary Members (pioneering tutorial methods of music instruction and psychological methods of musical learning, and advancing the music performance to the next level (for professional and graduate level training), as well as 6 scientific societies (14 practitioner-type journal editions) for a contemporary popular music joint fellowship (non stipend). We offer accredited training in popular music within a professional qualification system with unaccompanied solo pieces at grade 8 level and beyond with improvisation charts in 73 different musical styles and 29 specialties or concepts, for solo performance with the most advanced improvisation and technical skills required for each song, chosen from repertoire lists. The Academy does NOT provide ANY undergraduate degree programme in music, nor Unit Modules part of it, delivered by its distance tutorial methods and system, in collaboration with a university or polytechnic. The ALPMC-CI™ musical entity provides a 3-stage professional and continuing education programme (with officially recognised 'Credit Units' - UC's in Portugal; i.e., the so called CEU's internationally) for the 'academically accredited' Qualification (only awarded to non-higher education diploma and non-degree holders) culminating with the Diploma of Specialization degree in Popular Music (408 hours total) [eligible to up to 12 automatic ECTS graduate credits for the accreditation received in the specialization degree programme - transferable to a private or public university masters degree programme] (Diploma de Especialização em Música Popular) to Full Member-Candidates. This Specialization Degree Course for 'graduates' or ordinary bachelor's (Curso Superior Especializado para 'graduados' ou licenciados) is a qualification equivalent, according to the Portuguese legislation, to a Professional or Vocational-based Masters course portion in Popular Music - Guitar (or on a similar specialized music training field) if accompanied by a 4-year Honours Bachelor Degree in Music or Music Education (Licenciatura de 4 anos, pré ou pós Bolonha) for an individual teacher's continuing education accreditation by a Teaching Council. For this official equivalency to take effect an individual accreditation from a professional body for teachers to obtain the career credits (UC's or CEU's for music or music education teachers) is required, and the ALPMC-CI Specialization degree course in Popular Music (the Diploma qualification) and its trainers (lecturers and researchers) are both accredited and highly qualified for the purpose. In Portugal the body it is the CCPFC, Braga. Our popular music programme awards automatic credit value for the continuing education unit credits (i.e., UCs) and ALPMC - CI Specialization in popular music (classical and jazz guitar, and viola braguesa) completed, which are convertible or eligible to 12 ECTS (academic graduate credits) in a masters degree programme. Continuing education unit credits can positively impact your career in several ways.
We promote and explore the field of contemporary popular music performance in a Cycle of Musical Specialties for Jazz/Electric Guitar, Classic Guitar, Acoustic Guitar/Fado Viola, Cavaquinho (Braguinha of Madeira), Ukulele (Soprano and Concerto), Braguesa Viola (10-string guitar) (or another Portuguese Viola), Rajão of Madeira, Applied Music Theory, Traditional Percussion, Foot Percussion (Drumming) and Carlophone (Available Soon), from Folk Music to pre-30s Jazz, with members in Portugal and abroad. The C.I. provides the 1st officially approved distance tutorial and professional qualification system in the world with accredited music performance training levels (stages). The entity maintains internationally important e-library and digital archive collections of aproximately 1,750,000 music manuscript editions and audio recordings, and a mini library collection of over 1,500 books, e-books, journals and e-journals, from whose 99,8% are published by the ALPMC-CI. The Mini-Library at the Secretariat is classified with the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC). Our musical aim at C.I. is to incorporate advanced contemporary music performance concepts in folk and popular music.
The ALPMC-CI is a nationally chartered scientific academy that offers a rigorous vis-à-vis distance learning program and tutorial system (with face-to-face performance assessments) with psychology of learning evaluations for academic accredited professional certification for both amateur and professional musicians and/or private instrumental tutors.
